The Miracle of the Motivation to Start

This morning I woke up at 7:00 am. Laid in my comfy warm bed and looked outside to the rainy cold morning. Today was supposed to be my long run. But as I laid there, my mind was coming up with one excuse after another not to go out and run. It was easier to reach over and grab my iPhone then to get up and put on my running shoes. I got on Instagram and checked out all the great pictures my followers are sharing. After about 30 minutes I managed to get on Facebook and get caught up with all the happenings within my circle of friends. RUNNING IS A MENTAL BATTLE

It’s always very tempting to put on the headphones and listen to our favorite music while we’re running. But that teaches us to rely on music to help us go the extra mile. Running is about mental toughness and defeating that voice in the back of our heads telling us to slow down, stop, and call it a day. Besides strengthening our mental toughness, running without music allows us to enjoy what’s around us, and be more aware of our surroundings for a safer more enjoyable run.
